david copperfield podcast

i have used audacity to create a podcast that is the opening paragraph of "David Copperfield" with some backing sounds as well. Audacity is great for this, it's easy and it's free! (the post title is the link to the audio as well, that's blogspot's embedded linking, then I realized it could be any html link in the text as well)

podcasting

once again love the video, jumping ahead a bit this is the way to offer online training, quick, clear, a great way libraries could offer instruction about...anything.

Audacity is great, I have used it quite a bit, for free software it is very well designed. I followed the podcast links and downloaded some beautiful meditation music, which I'm listening to now :-)

mashups and maps

i loved the video on mashups, the guy's so cool, new age it's so easy technospeak. Anyhow I had a look at the awards and was surprised they were nearly all about twitter, obviously it continues to fascinate. I liked twopular, an aggregator of popular twitter topics.

And now I've got the map on the blog, cool!

using zoho

well my first experience of zoho was...so slow! It refused to load a page twice in the first few minutes I was using it, so that's it for me...google docs seems a much better application.

google docs

here is a great way to share a document. I already had a couple of spreadsheets up there for some friends to look at, but I hadn't been there for a while. Google docs seemed a bit easier and quicker now, but that's google, continuous improvement.

Lots of ways you could use this, as it makes the internet part of your local network. For Sunshine Coast Libraries we already have a wide area network, but this would allow us to collaborate with the community or other libraries.

technorati and librarything

I had a quick look at technorati, and the interface with the ads was so irritating I nearly switched off, did some searches, very cool. Librarything is great of course, and as I said before mos was innovative in setting up our book clubs there, I did a comparison with shelfari and it seemed to be in it's infancy, not much there, another thing about these sites is that I often disagree with the reviews, a bit like our very own great reads!

on tweeting

I'm not sure if I see the point of it, but I'm trying. For instance, should I be tweeting this? I'm going to look into desktop apps for twitter now, so you can tweet and receive tweets right off the desktop. The essential challenge seems to be having something to say....check out my tweets on my twitter page
